Anxiety is a lightweight to-do list application for Mac OS X Leopard from designer and developer Tom Stoelwinder. Anxiety is a very simple and elegant application that allows users to quickly create to-dos. One of its main strengths is the ability to integrate with OS X task management applications such as Mail and iCal. The fact that Anxiety is always available makes it a great option for displaying and managing tasks. Read more to see a more complete review of the application.
Pros:
- Compact and floating window capable of melting away when you switch applications
- Simple and elegant interface which resembles a HUD which integrates well with the system
- Utilizes Leopard’s Calendar Store so tasks are always synchronized with Apple Mail and iCal
- Integrated with Apple’s Mail and iCal (Double-clicking a list item reveals the task in iCal or Mail)
- Always available via the menubar icon

Cons:
- Not very customizable; options are limited to toggling the application’s dock and menubar items as well as adjusting list sorting
- Unable to edit tasks without having to open another application such as Mail or iCal
- Lacks the option to display task due dates
- Won’t show completed tasks; showing recently completed tasks is useful for many people

I have been using Anxiety since it first came out in December 2007. I have found its always available presence a great way to ‘nag’ me into getting things done. Anxiety’s ability to synchronize with Mail to-dos and iCal tasks is the killer feature of this application that makes it so much better than competitors like DoIt, Check Off, and TaskPaper. I have one small complaint about Anxiety, and that is my inability to display due dates for my tasks. I’d like to have the option to sort my tasks by due date and see which tasks I need to complete first.
If you are looking for an all-in-one GTD solution you should take a look at either Midnight Inbox, OmniFocus, or Things.
